About Us

Established in 1988 as a voluntary organisation, Home-Start York remains committed to supporting parents with at least one child under the age of five. Volunteers visit families in their own homes each week, offering support, friendship and practical help. This family-centred support strengthens and empowers families. Positive intervention in early years can prevent issues developing further and enables parents to find their own way forward - to achieve lasting change. We also run structured groups for parents with children 0-2 and our Big Hopes Big Futures programme, supporting parents and children on their journey into nursery or education and also support pregnant women in the last trimester to feel emotionally prepared for their new arrival.
