About Us

Home-Start York has been supporting families since 1988.

We work with parents who have at least one child under five, offering friendship, practical help and a steady, caring presence. Our trained volunteers visit families at home each week, building the kind of trust that helps parents feel more confident and more capable.

We know that the right support at the right time can make a real difference. Getting help early means small challenges don't become bigger ones, and parents can find their own way forward on their own terms.

Alongside our home visiting, our' ‘Big Hopes, Big Futures’ programme supports families as their children take their first steps into nursery and education. We also work with women in the final months of pregnancy, helping them feel emotionally ready for their new arrival.
